My adventure into this business idea started over 2 years ago. After returning from a trip to India, I was inspired by 2 fellow travellers who had properties on Airbnb. They spoke extensively of their experiences, so in 2015, I set up one of my rooms and offered it on Airbnb. It took a bit of preparation and thought, as I wanted to offer a quality product so I madly cleaned the house.
After listing one room, the demand was amazing, so I listed my other spare room. There have been weeks where I have had back to back stays, either one or both rooms let, and there have been quiet times. I’ve done lots of washing and making beds and have met some interesting people from all parts of Australia and abroad. Some stays have been for one night, and others have been for over 3 weeks.
I still wanted to go on holidays and be able to let my rooms out whilst away. As this was difficult to do, my house was completely empty for a whole month. After I returned from my holiday on the Trans Mongolian and Trans Siberian Rail Journey, I thought about an idea for a business – providing a service to those who have properties or rooms on these sharing platforms. These services assist with time management for busy people or those who want to go on holidays themselves.
